The Adventure1) Various Pokemon will be able to follow you over the course of the game, the earliest being your starter. You will also be able to communicate with them and observe their emotions.
2) Bags and PC boxes can now be arranged via the touch screen. In addition, the Pokemon status screens now show information on both screens.
3) The Pokedex is styled differently for the male and female trainers, and can be manipulated via touch screen, which now shows Pokemon sprites in a grid layout. Once again, the Pokedex will have Johto and National editions.
4) Major characters that will appear in the game again include your rival, Prof. Elm, and Team Rocket.
Preorder CampaignPreorders for HeartGold and SoulSilver begin in Japan on July 4. Like Platinum, the preorder bonuses are figurines of Ho-oh, Lugia, and Arceus. Preorder HG and receive the Ho-oh figurine, SS to receive the Lugia figurine, and
BOTH versions at the same time (Gamefreak sure loves money!) to receive the Arceus figurine for a complete collection.

Gizamimi Pichu (Notched-Ear Pichu) to appear!
2) Importing Arceus (obtainable via attending Movie 12) triggers an event featuring Cynthia, the Sinnoh Champion, that allows you to choose one of three Lv. 1 legendaries from amongst Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina.
The bag is now shown on the touch screen, and you can use your stylus to go through the different sections as well as rearrange your items.
The new Pokemon status screen is much more condensed. The "Pokemon Skills" and "Battle Moves" pages have been merged into one, and the Po
PC Box Pokemon can now be arranged via the stylus on the touch screen.

Jirachi Promo: You can receive the legendary Pokemon Jirachi! Take your DS and Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum to a Japanese McDonald's restaurant to receive it over Wi-Fi Mystery Gift before 17 July. (The numbers 1~4 simply detail how to set up the Wi-Fi connection.)

Post-Hall of Fame Legendary Appearances: After becoming the Champion and entering the Hall of Fame, you will have the opportunity to capture even more legendary Pokemon: Kyogre in HeartGold and Groudon in SoulSilver. Gather the two and Rayquaza will appear!

Arceus event: Importing Arceus (Movie 12 promo Arceus, perhaps?) to HG/SS will trigger an in-game event, with Cynthia appearing, that allows you to "choose one of three" legendary Pokemon among Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina.
